Smooth Operator

I was young and only able to see the good in people.

The good that didn't exist.

I was naive.

I couldn't figure out that the thing you were holding and shaking around,

it was a knife.

I had a fever, and I was super wick,

It took me some time to realize,

that was the knife you stabbed me with.

But as my health began to mend,

I sensed a disquiet that wouldn't bend,

Beside me, your presence, a soothing plea,

At that moment, nothing else mattered to me.

You used me and did it very well.

Congrats! You are such a player, I can tell!

You toyed with us both,

Aiming for two with one throw…

She bore no blame, innocent and unaware,

Your flirtations and calls, a web of deceit you dared.

Mujeriego!

Because you can't survive without female attention,

and I wanted you to be with me, I wanted your protection!

But for that, I will never beg, no!

You were buying me gifts, expensive stuff,

trying to buy your forgiveness,

but oh dear, that one is so tough!

That's not how you will win my heart,

and for quite some time,

I even thought that you were smart!

But you played your part,

showed me the real you,

and thank God, this time was true

you were just another idiot that I never knew.

Patience is crucial, for we all learn at our pace,

Individuals unique, yet sharing a common trace.

Trust isn't awarded, but earned with care,

Yet, your efforts fell short, leaving me in despair.

From the first words you spoke, deceit took hold,

A torrent of falsehoods, a narrative untold.

Everything felt amiss,

a disconcerting sight,

That's when I realized trusting my gut was right.

My intuition, the most reliable guide,

Its workings are a mystery, where reasons hide.

In moments of doubt, it's wisdom I praise.

For in its whispers, I find my key,

Unlocking paths to set me free.
