Shadows of Sorrow

A Reflection on Today's World

I am rarely speechless.

But the world lately… Oh, damn.

Where the heck do I live?

In case you didn't know, there is a war going on. At least that's what they want to call it because the reality is different. And there are probably others we don't know much about because the media doesn't talk about them.

So we have those psychopaths. Yes. Psychopaths. If you approve of that “war”, if you keep saying that innocent deserves to die, then psychopath might be a small word for you.

Then, there is Palestine, they can't even defend themselves…

I really can't watch them suffer anymore.

I see kids so strong and I'm ashamed.

I never had, not even close to that strength.

I see them shaking, shocked, lost, and I realize I am blessed for what I have.

I realize that my traumas are just some little lessons given from life.

I see them grateful for everything.

For their meal, if they get it.

For the sun, if they see it.

For the new day, if they get to live it.

For everything.

And realize that I have everything to be happy.

But I also see the world. I see people praying for Palestinians.

I see people fighting for them. Supporting them. Speaking for them!

They are trying to stop the genocide.

Trying!

And here are my people.

We are different.

When it comes to others, we only care about what others think about us.

We don't try to support anybody.

It is such a small country. With people who possess bigger egos than hearts.

We are led by ambition.

We support what's famous.

Small businesses and small people are not a subject to discuss.

The whole world came out to support what is right. To support Palestinians because their lives matter!

Thousands of people worldwide, black, white, yellow, Muslims, Christians, EVERYONE but us. Only a Hundred people. A Hundred die in a day in Palestine. Is that even a number?

It's a shame to mention it. A Hundred from the entire country.

Nobody talks about it. They are even bored.

It's funny how they fight for a giveaway of 20 bucks and share it everywhere. Fucking 20 bucks.

Yeah, that is my people.

And I don't care if I'm going to be hated for saying the truth.

I thank the real people I have around me and that's all I will keep.

Sincerely,

Yours Emerara
